RETAIL & HOSPITALITY
Eagles Landing is a complete replacement of an existing convenience store and gas station in New Town, ND. Including 11,000 square feet of space plus an automated car wash, the new building more than doubles the area of the previous store and expands the fuel islands to enhance the service of a very busy station in the heart of oil country in western North Dakota. Critical to the success of this project was providing a new site design and building layout that would improve traffic flow throughout the site, but was only made possible by construction of the new building on an adjacent site to allow the existing convenience store to operate until construction was complete and then demolition of that original building to realize the full potential of the site. The convenience store includes merchandising and coolers, made-to-order and take-and-go food options, and liquor sales.

The property owner was eager to create an opportunity for multiple small local entrepreneurs to create their own unique feel for their business, taking 15,000 sf and renovating it into three individual as-built spaces. The renovation aimed to merge the downtown’s rich history with a contemporary touch, creating spaces that would attract customers and provide a unique experience. The building's exterior was rejuvenated, with distinct façade improvements intended to celebrate the prairie landscapes surrounding the city.
Three new vibrant businesses were established with this renovation, an eclectic bakery and coffee house, an upscale boutique, and a Parisian inspired patisserie. Prairie Sky Breads Bakery and Coffee House interior design paid homage to the region's natural beauty, incorporating earthy materials and a progressive flair. Large windows framed the bustling kitchen, allowing customers to watch the baking process unfold. Adjacent to the bakery, The Weekender, a boutique using natural brick from the building creating a welcoming environment, with open concept design, unique displays, and a striking hand-crafted chandelier adorned the ceiling making use of the great ceiling height and lighting. In a cozy corner of the building, Guilty Sweets captures a Parisian-inspired look, decorated with soft hues, featuring all shades of pink, and covered in roses. A lot of consideration was given on making the quaint space a standout destination with opportunities to use a memorable backdrop for social media posts and inviting visitors to savor time in the space.
The architectural team worked diligently to preserve the building's historical elements while seamlessly integrating modern amenities. The goal was to create distinct and unique spaces accommodating the specific needs of each business while retaining the building’s charm.
