The architecture team, along with Minot State University, is pleased to share plans for future enhancements to the Student Center on the university campus. Concurrent with the Student Center remodel, the former Dakota Hall building is also slated for demolition in late winter/early spring 2026. These changes are part of an overall mission to modernize and upgrade campus facilities.

Both projects involved various architectural solutions that the team at Ackerman-Estvold was excited to be part of.

“With approved funding from the 2025 session, MSU is set to move forward on both the Student Center renovation and the demolition of Dakota Hall. Working with MSU, our team provided a design that modernizes social and service spaces for students, adding more comfortable and welcoming spaces beyond the classroom,” states VP Ryan Anderson, AIA.

Along with enhancements to the Student Center, demolition of one of MSU’s oldest buildings will begin soon.

Anderson continues, “We were able to create a demolition design and develop solutions to reinforce tunneling structures, ensuring a safe and proper process to remove the deteriorating structure.”

Renderings created for the Student Center remodel are provided below and offer a conceptual snapshot of the designed structural changes and interior finishes.
