A lot of people assume employment background checks just need to be “accurate,” but §1681k goes further than that. The “complete and up to date” part is where many reports fall apart, especially when old cases or incomplete records keep showing up. I didn’t realize how much context matters until reading this explanation, which breaks down why outdated info can still violate the FCRA even if it’s technically real: https://consumerattorneys.com/article/fcra-1681k-complete-up-to-date-standard-employment-reports. Definitely changed how I look at background check denials.
