In 2016 Ackerman-Estvold collaborated with Three Affiliated Tribes – MHA Nation to develop the 4 Bears Water Park at the Four Bears Peninsula, west of New Town, ND. The water park was designed to take full advantage of the proximity to 4 Bears Casino and the panoramic views of Lake Sakakawea and for families and people of all ages to enjoy the sacred connection to water. Additionally, this park would provide a critical amenity to further MHA Nation’s desire for the Four Bears Peninsula to be a destination resort.

At a total cost of $15.2million, construction of the various phases was accomplished during Fall, Winter, and Spring months to ensure the park would be usable during the Summer. Phase 1 was completed in the Summer of 2018, phase 2 in the Spring of 2019, and phase 3 will be completed Summer of 2021 with additional plans for a 4th phase.
