NEW TOWN, ND
4bEARS WATERPARK
In 2016, Ackerman-Estvold provided Architectural and Site Civil design for a 2.0± acre water park containing a Splash Pad, Lazy River, and Water Slide features for the Three Affiliated Tribes (Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara) located on the 4 Bears peninsula west of New Town, ND. The park is served by a bathhouse and ticketing /concessions building. The new facility was designed to accommodate potential expansion. A second phase is now currently under construction and includes the extension of the Lazy River, addition of a third slide, and a swim-up concession building. The facilities are constructed on three cascading terraces that complement the unobstructed view of Lake Sakakawea. The phase 1 construction cost was $7M which included the Architectural, Water Features, and Site Infrastructure. Phase 2 construction is estimated at $4M. Phase 1 Project design initiated in 2016 and opened late summer of 2018. Phase 2 design initiated in 2018 and is expected to be open in 2020.
