My Favorite Project

MSU SWAIN HALL ADDITIONS & RENOVATIONS

MY 'WHY'

This was my 'most fun' project because the additions and re-facing the entire building provided a blank canvas for me to give the building a completely new image. The result was a design that mimicked the historical aesthetic of surrounding campus facilities, but also blended newer and much needed, modern high-tech features.

This architectural design was performed by Ryan while employed at another firm.

Remodel & addition for educational space

BRIEF
CIMG4023.JPG

Challenge: The building was a WPA era building that was not code compliant, did not have infrastructure in place for modern post-secondary education, and did not have spaces conducive to modern learning.

Solution: The entire interior of the building was demolished except for the structure, asbestos removed, and small front and back additions removed to make way for a complete re-layout of the building. Additions on the front and back were added to provide needed accessibility and infrastructure to the building as well as provide flexible private and public meeting space. The existing building was re-laid out to provide spaces that met current classroom size requirements and provide office spaces and learning spaces that met MSU’s space needs.
