In 2018, Ackerman Estvold conducted a Phase I ESA on an industrial site in north Minot.  Numerous small motor oil and/or diesel spills were noted during the site visit.  Field screening and sampling was conducted to determine the probable source of the spills and to determine if the contamination exceeded levels requiring remediation.  After receiving the laboratory testing confirming the levels were above Action Levels, site cleanup activities were undertaken to remove gross surficial contamination.  The excavations were then field screened, and the 96 tons of removed petroleum contaminated soils were properly disposed of at Clean Harbors landfill near Sawyer.  After all cleanup activities were completed, Ackerman Estvold obtained a No Further Action letter from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality for the client.
