MINOT STORM SEWER DISTRICT 122 ENGINEERING
The City of Minot Stormwater Management Plan identified eight locations where local drainage results in flooding problems. Storm Sewer District 122 was identified as the first priority. This district drains to a location on 18th Avenue SW, just west of Broadway, resulting in frequent street flooding. Street flooding depths greater than 2-feet had been reported. A storm sewer and catchbasin collection system was designed uphill from the problem area to quickly capture the stormwater before it becomes a problem. The downstream storm sewer system was analyzed to ensure that the early capture of stormwater would not result in surcharge and failure of existing stormwater facilities.

In order to assist with garnering public support, rain-on-grid computations and computer-generated videos were developed to aid the public in visualizing the flooding issues and the positive effects of the storm sewer installation.
Ackerman-Estvold provided construction documents and construction management to ensure the stormwater collection system was properly installed. Construction was completed in 2017 at a cost of $1,000,000.
